Day 27: Oh what a day...

Happy Monday to you! Was it a good one for you? Monday's not always my favorite, but I try to stay positive. Today was quite a doozy for me though. I had an appointment with a specialist for my foot issue. I've been praying for healing, along with a definitive answer as to what the issue was. I've been trying so hard to walk (ha!) in faith and trust that God has a plan in all of this, all the while believing that He was healing me. And today, I got a nice surprise: He is healing me! Praise the Lord!

Right away the nurse ordered another set of x-rays (I'd had one set done two weeks ago that didn't show anything). Within five minutes of having the x-rays taken, they were already pulled up in the exam room, eagerly waiting to be read by my doc. Sure enough, the x-rays revealed a stress fracture in the third metatarsal of my right foot. Yay, a definitive diagnosis! What's really amazing to me is that the fracture itself isn't what's visible in the x-ray; it's actually the healing process that becomes visible. My bone is growing a callous around the injured portion, protecting it and giving it the opportunity to heal. Isn't the human body incredible?

Psalm 139:14 says, "I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made!"

As I was reveling in the beauty of God's creation, the bomb came. "I'm going to order you a cast, crutches, and 3 weeks with no weight baring." GASP. A cast?! Totally NOT even remotely on my radar! In direct correlation with my entirely feminine nature, the tears began to spill over. But more good news soon followed: the cast only lasts 3 weeks (hopefully) and I should be healed fully enough to participate in all Jamaican activities. Yay!

I spent a good portion of my day adjusting to life on crutches. Let me tell you, I will never again take for granted walking, running, carrying anything, getting dressed, standing up, sitting down, opening doors... Seriously, I never realized how much I do simply out of instinct, without even thinking about it. Today is only day 1 and I am totally overwhelmed, as evidenced by my now rambling blog post. So, I'll wrap it up and get some sleep.

Here are a few photos of my latest (ahem) accessory:
(drumroll please...)
A work in progress...

Super excited about my newest fashion statement

Ta-da! The finished product...before the signing begins. :)

Well, there's the scoop on the foot. I'm sure I'll have much more to share in coming days. But for now, my body is exhausted and sleep is SO in my near future.

Be blessed tonight, friends.

  1. You had better believe I'm bringing a giant sharpie to the office on Wednesday. :)

  2. Oh I believe it :) You'll have to compete with some pretty big block letters now though...lol. I've got a gold sharpie that looks pretty slick. I have super high expectations for a super cool cast design, Miss Arsty-Fartsy. :)
