Human Sparkler

Several years ago I received a birthday card from my uncle that made a rather significant impact on me.  The card's words were simple, yet the message was profound.

"You're a human sparkler, you are," it read on the outside.

Honestly, I have no idea what the inside of the card said.  But the outside alone was enough.  I was going through a pretty difficult period of my life and feeling the weight of my imperfections and human limitations.  God used those few words to remind me that no matter what I'm going through and no matter how insignificant I may feel, I have a purpose.

Jesus says in Matthew 5:14, "You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill can not be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let you light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

I am a light, a human sparkler, if you will.  And my job is to share that light with the world, so that they may know Him.
